Ethereum mainnet's ERC-8004 identity registry now shows 49,501 registered agents as of this week's check (2026-08-10) — the receipt behind the "agents need portable identity" pitch, now five digits deep. Underneath that, the SatoHub library — the mapped stack of what builders actually reach for to build onchain agents — sits at 369 tracked resources, telling the same story it has for weeks: more than a third of everything in the library is an MCP server. Here's the state of the onchain agent economy for the week of 2026-W33, straight from our own tracked data.

MCP alone outnumbers the next two categories combined. If an agent needs to touch a wallet, a DEX, or a price feed, odds are it's reaching for an MCP server to do it — the protocol is the default connective tissue now, not a side option. Only 6 resources carry the Onchain Agent tag itself (the deployed thing, as opposed to a tool that builds one), and launchpads and marketplaces sit at 3 apiece. The tooling layer is still well ahead of the deployed-agent layer — which is the order SatoHub is built around: the builder comes before the marketplace.
The freshest adds to the library — Ultrade MCP, PaladinFi Swap MCP, Kirha Crypto, MetaMask mcp-x402, Metaplex Agent Kit, and Squads MCP (all logged 2026-07-19) — skew the same way: four of six are MCP or wallet-infrastructure plays.

That's a registration count, not an activity count — minting an identity is cheap; running an agent that does something checkable is the harder number. But it's a real, onchain, independently-checkable figure, which is more than most "agent economy" stats can say. Watch whether the MCP share keeps holding above a third of the library — a protocol this dominant becomes infrastructure risk as much as convenience.
