A slot in the Featured band

Maintainers ask how to get their project seen. This is the honest answer about paid placement: every card that sits in the band because it was paid for says Sponsored on its face.

Paused. Featured slots are paused and not on sale. Nothing can be bought, and nothing was charged. A window already bought runs to its end date. Claiming a listing is free and unaffected.

What a slot does not buy

• Rank. A paid window never touches the editorial featured flag, which is what ordering reads — not on the directory, not in search, not in the news signal, not in the MCP filter, not on a use-case page. Your position everywhere on the site is exactly what it was.
• A Sato Score. The score is computed from evidence — maintenance, code transparency, docs, verification — by a script that does not know this page exists. How it is computed →
• Verification. Nothing here writes verification status, trust fields or any market flag. A sponsored card is a card in a slot, not a badge.
• Silence. The label is not a footnote, and there is no option to remove it.

Who can buy one

Only the listing’s proven maintainer. Before checkout you sign in and claim the listing at /claim/<slug>: you prove control of a domain or repo the listing already points at, derived from its own URLs — you cannot name one, so nobody can buy a slot on a project that is not theirs. No verified claim, no checkout. Shared hosts (github.io, vercel.app and the like) are excluded: proving one of those proves control of the platform, not the project.

487 of 488 listings point at a domain of their own that can be proved, which is what a claim needs. A slot can be bought only after a claim is verified. Claiming your listing — the Is this your project? link on its own page — is free and always will be — corrections are worth more to the index than they are to you, and we are not going to charge for them.

Buying a slot

Not on sale right now. There is no checkout on this page while the slot is paused. Everything else the site does for a maintainer, including claiming and correcting a listing, is free.

Sponsored: this project's maintainer paid for a 30-day slot in this band. It did not change the listing's Sato Score, its rank anywhere on the site, or its verification status — a paid slot is placement, and nothing else about the listing is for sale.

A slot is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Billing, cancellation and refunds are set out on the pricing page.
