Agent Economy Update — 2026-W41

52,152 ERC-8004 registrations, 439 tracked tools, and one very lopsided stack

2026-10-05 · 4 min read

The number that stands out this week: 52,152 agents registered on the ERC-8004 identity registry on Ethereum mainnet, as of our check on 2026-10-05. Over the same stretch, the SatoHub library tracks 439 resources for building agents. That's two very different things. One counts identities someone has registered. The other counts the stack you build with. Read them side by side and the gap says a lot: registering an agent is cheap, building one that works is where the stack comes in.

To be exact about what the 52,152 is: a count of registrations on one network at one moment. It is not a count of working agents, not a measure of activity, and not a quality signal. We have a single snapshot this week, so we won't call it growth. We'll track it and tell you when there's a trend to report.

The builder library: MCPs carry the mix

The directory tracks 439 resources this week. By category, the biggest slice is not close:

  • ▸MCP: 141
  • ▸API / SDK: 57
  • ▸Trading Tool: 36
  • ▸Data Tool: 34
  • ▸Wallet Infrastructure: 33
  • ▸Agent Framework: 30
  • ▸Skill Repo: 30
  • ▸Developer Tool: 22
  • ▸DeFi Tool: 19
  • ▸Security Tool: 16

The long tail: Agent Marketplace (7), Onchain Agent (6), Agent Launchpad (3), Research Tool (2), Other (2), Research Paper (1).

Take: MCP servers are the largest single category we track, at 141 of 439. If you're building an agent today, the most likely thing you'll plug into is an MCP server. Meanwhile Wallet Infrastructure sits at 33 and Agent Framework at 30. Plenty of tools for an agent to call; fewer pieces that decide what it's allowed to do with money. Worth knowing before you wire anything up.

A note on the Agent Marketplace row: those 7 are third-party listings we track as resources. The SatoHub marketplace is a later layer and is not live.

Chain mix

By chain tag: Multichain 156, Base 154, Ethereum 118, Solana 114, Arbitrum 61, Polygon 55, BNB Chain 44, Unknown 40.

Don't add these up. The chain counts add up to more than 439, so a resource can carry more than one tag. They are not additive. What you can read: Base is almost level with Multichain, and Ethereum and Solana sit close together. The 40 tagged Unknown are mostly a note to us that the data still has gaps.

Sato Score leaders

The top of the Sato Score this week, all in the High tier:

1. Raydium — 95 2. OpenClaw — 92 3. Hermes Agent — 92 4. BlockRun MCP — 91 5. CoinGecko MCP — 89 6. Coinbase AgentKit — 88

The Sato Score is a transparency and liveness score: how open, active and checkable a project is from public evidence. It is not a safety grade, a quality grade, or a returns signal. A high score says there is a lot to inspect. It doesn't say the thing is good for your use case. Do your own check before you put a key anywhere near it.

New in the library

The newest additions: x402 Bazaar Rank (Data Tool) and Neuronto Payments (API / SDK), both added 2026-10-05; PulseFeed (Security Tool, 2026-10-03); x402-ping (API / SDK, 2026-09-29); Quant Flow (Trading Tool) and CoinOS Skills (AiCoin) (Skill Repo), both 2026-09-25. Two of the six are x402-adjacent, which fits where payment rails for agents are being built right now.

Notable moves this week

Three releases from projects we track, described as their own release pages describe them:

  • ▸ClawRouter v0.12.282 is titled "security: the local proxy only answers local clients." That's the project's own framing of the change. If you run a local proxy in front of your agent, read the release notes and check it against your setup.
  • ▸zerion-ai v1.10.0 shipped. We track it as a project in the library; we haven't reviewed what changed.
  • ▸botwallet-co/mcp v0.4.0 shipped. It's an MCP server we track; we haven't reviewed what changed.

Also out: tari v6.1.0-pre.0 and v6.0.1, and mcp-server-insumer v1.16.2. We list the releases here because they happened. We haven't reviewed their contents, and a release tag is not evidence of anything beyond a release.

What to watch

  • ▸ERC-8004 registrations vs. actual use. We have one count. The interesting question is how many of those identities show up with a live endpoint or a track record.
  • ▸Wallet controls. MCP tools are plentiful. Watch whether spend limits and permission scoping keep pace.
  • ▸x402 tooling. Two of this week's newest additions sit in that lane.

Build your own

Most agent tools start you at a blank prompt. Sato starts with the stack: the skills, MCPs, wallets and payment rails already mapped and scored. Describe the agent you want, and the builder maps what it takes to build it. Start at satohub.ai/build and join the agent economy as a builder, not a bystander.
