Lists of MCP servers

Three independent lists of MCP servers. A server can be in several, so they overlap.

  • MCP servers (distinct names) · the official MCP registry · as listed on the day we read it

Distinct server names the official MCP registry lists, counting the latest version of each.

  • MCP servers (one definition file each) · Docker's curated MCP catalogue · as listed on the day we read it

Server definitions in Docker's curated catalogue: a curated list, not a count of every MCP server.

  • distinct repository or page links · the Server Implementations part of the list · as listed on the day we read it

This directory

Our own listing, chosen for crypto and agent use.

  • tools that list MCP among their standards · live listings in this directory · as listed on the day we read it

Tools in the Sato Hub directory that say they support the Model Context Protocol, each scored. Chosen for crypto and agent use, so it is far narrower than a general registry.

Counts of other objects

Hugging Face repos and agent skills are shown because people quote them beside MCP counts. They are not MCP servers, and each is its own census.

  • models (repos, not servers) · Hugging Face models found by a fixed list of crypto and onchain keywords and tags · as found on the day we read it

Models the Hub returns for a fixed keyword and tag list. They are repos of that kind, not MCP servers.

stage: repos found · read 2026-10-14

  • datasets (repos, not servers) · Hugging Face datasets found by a fixed list of crypto and onchain keywords and tags · as found on the day we read it

Datasets the Hub returns for a fixed keyword and tag list. They are repos of that kind, not MCP servers.

stage: repos found · read 2026-10-14

  • spaces (repos, not servers) · Hugging Face spaces found by a fixed list of crypto and onchain keywords and tags · as found on the day we read it

Spaces the Hub returns for a fixed keyword and tag list. They are repos of that kind, not MCP servers.

  • skills (not servers) · every skill page in skills.sh's sitemaps · as listed on the day we read it

Skills, which are instruction bundles for an agent, listed on skills.sh. A skill is not an MCP server.

  • skills (not servers) · ClawHub's public skill list · as listed on the day we read it

Skills ClawHub's public list returned. A skill is not an MCP server.

Our reading

Read each row as how many of its own kind of object that list holds. No row is the number of MCP servers that exist: the official registry holds what publishers submit, Docker's catalogue is curated, and the awesome list is curated by its maintainers.

Because one server can sit in several lists, adding the rows would count it more than once. Pick the list that matches your question and name it when you quote the figure.

Our own check is whether a listed MCP endpoint answers a handshake today: a share of our checks, never uptime. MCP servers that answer →

Why the numbers differ

  • Admission: a registry takes what publishers submit, a catalogue takes what its maintainers choose, and each applies its own bar.
  • Object: a server, a Hugging Face repo and a skill are different things, and the last two are counted here only because they are quoted beside MCP counts.
  • Overlap: a server can appear in several lists, so the lists are independent censuses, never parts of one whole.
  • Version: the official registry keeps several versions of a server; its figure counts distinct server names, not versions.

Figures other trackers publish, quoted with their source and read once a day or once a week. They are not Sato Hub's numbers and are never added together; “unknown” means we hold no reading, never zero. Data CC-BY-4.0 — attribution: data by satohub.ai.

Questions this page answers

How many MCP servers are there?
It depends which list you ask. Read on 2026-10-13, the official MCP registry listed 43,134 servers and Docker's catalogue listed 328. They are independent lists that overlap, so the figures are not added and neither is the number of MCP servers that exist.
Are skills.sh and ClawHub counts MCP server counts?
No. They count skills, which are instruction bundles for an agent, not MCP servers. This page shows them in their own group because people quote them beside MCP counts.
Is there one MCP total across all lists?
No. The lists overlap and each applies its own admission bar, so a total would count the same server more than once. This page publishes none (latest reading 2026-10-13).

How this was measured

Method
Each list's own size is read from the place it publishes it (the official MCP registry's listing, Docker's registry repository, the awesome-mcp-servers list, Hugging Face's public search, the skills.sh sitemaps, ClawHub's public list) and kept with what that list counts; the lists overlap and are never merged or added.
Window
The latest daily or weekly reading of each list, dated per row.
Data date
MCP call
none — No MCP tool returns other registries' sizes; each row links to the list that publishes it.
URL
none — No satohub.ai export carries these third-party counts; read each from the source, as in the recount below.
Recount
curl -s 'https://registry.modelcontextprotocol.io/v0.1/servers?limit=100'
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/docker/mcp-registry && ls mcp-registry/servers | wc -l
curl -s https://skills.sh/sitemap.xml

The official registry pages its listing; the figure on this page counts distinct server names across all pages. Docker's count is one folder per server.
