sum of the facilitator_txs_1d rows for the 31 labelled operators on Base ONLY (same chain, same window kind); never across chains. eth_getTransactionCount(key) at the last block before each UTC midnight (boundaries found by timestamp binary search), end minus start, summed over the operator's catalogued EOA keys; contracts excluded (their nonce counts creations, not sends)

Why is this an upper bound on settlements?
A facilitator is the service that submits the payment transaction on a buyer's behalf, so its keys send settlements — but the same keys can also send other transactions (funding, approvals, retries). Counting every transaction a known key sent can only overstate settlements, never understate the ones those keys made.
What does 'not wash-filtered' mean here?
Nothing removes payments a party makes to itself, test traffic, or loops that exist to make a volume figure. The count is what the chain shows those keys sending, before any judgement about whether the payment was real commerce.
Which facilitators are counted?
Only keys attributed to a named operator on Sato Hub's facilitator map. Latest per-operator readings: Coinbase CDP on Base 58,879 (2026-09-25), Dexter on Solana 3,082 (2026-09-25), three.ws on Solana 2,978 (2026-09-25), PayAI on Solana 2,882 (2026-09-25), Coinbase CDP on Solana 2,813 (2026-09-25). A facilitator we cannot attribute is missing from every figure, which is one more reason the per-chain number is not the whole of x402.
Why is there no total across chains?
A transaction on Base and one on Solana are settled on different ledgers by different keys under different fee regimes, and the attributed key set differs per chain. Adding them would produce a number that describes no chain.
