Overview

Stripe's docs describe machine payments as letting agents pay for APIs programmatically (https://docs.stripe.com/payments/machine). The server returns a payment challenge and Stripe settles to the merchant's Stripe balance, with refunds, reporting and Connect support. Stablecoin support per the docs is MPP on Tempo (USDC.e) and Solana (USDC), and x402 on Base (USDC). The minimum is 0.01 USDC, and US businesses are eligible except in New York. A Feb 11, 2026 preview report covered the x402 integration (https://www.theblock.co/post/389352/stripe-adds-x402-integration-usdc-agent-payments). The docs point to `stripe agent setup` in the Stripe CLI and starter code at https://github.com/stripe-samples/machine-payments (MIT).
