Overview
The Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) is an open standard, currently in beta, that defines how AI agents interact with merchants to complete purchases on a buyer's behalf, using mechanisms such as Shared Payment Tokens so checkout occurs without exposing payment credentials. It is maintained by OpenAI and Stripe and powers Instant Checkout in ChatGPT. It is primarily a Web2 commerce protocol (card/traditional rails), though Stripe has integrated x402 to connect it to crypto rails.
