Coinbase for Agents is Coinbase's remote MCP server (https://agents.coinbase.com/mcp) plus a CLI. An agent signs in with Coinbase OAuth, with no API keys, and can then act on the user's Coinbase Advanced Trade account within the limits the user sets. It launched in June 2026 with spot crypto (900+ pairs), CFM dated futures and portfolio reads. On 22 September 2026 Coinbase added US stocks and ETFs, traded through Coinbase Capital Markets Corp. (member FINRA/SIPC) with Apex Fintech Solutions clearing, and x402 payments. The x402 tools (coinbase_x402_resources, coinbase_x402_fetch) pay per request in USDC on Base from the account's USDC balance, capped at 5 USDC per payment, against a curated catalog: Arkham, Dripstack, Exa, Glassnode, Massive, Nansen and You.com. Clients are allowlisted even when they register dynamically. Coinbase lists ChatGPT, Grok, Muse, Perplexity Computer, Claude and Claude Code; other harnesses use the CLI. Isolated agent portfolios cover spot crypto only, and sandboxed accounts for equities are announced but not yet available. The tool list sits behind OAuth, so we have not counted it.
