Overview

Exa is a web search engine and API designed for AI agents, with search modes that trade cost and latency for depth, and a contents endpoint that returns page text. Its /search and /contents endpoints accept x402: the agent signs a USDC payment, retries with a PAYMENT-SIGNATURE header and gets results plus a settlement receipt, with a 10-result cap per x402 search (https://exa.ai/docs/reference/x402-guide). Exa also runs an open-source MCP server (https://github.com/exa-labs/exa-mcp-server), hosted at https://mcp.exa.ai/mcp.
