Visa Trusted Agent Protocol (TAP)
Visa protocol that lets merchants authenticate trusted AI shopping agents via cryptographic signatures, with x402 interoperability into traditional payment rails.
Overview
Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol (TAP) is an agentic commerce protocol, developed with Cloudflare, that helps merchants distinguish legitimate AI agents from bots and fraudsters using agent-specific cryptographic signatures and additional agent-supplied context. Visa has added x402 support through TAP and is collaborating with Coinbase to make it interoperable with the x402 standard, bridging agent transactions to traditional Visa payment rails.
